Mail processing fees:
-
If you request a forward from the mailing facility, you will need to pay postage plus a $5 handling fee.
- For any mail arriving at your residential address, there is a $5 mail processing fee for each piece. Every item must be manually forwarded to your mailing address before we can legally process it, according to USPS regulations. This is why we recommend splitting your residential and mailing address with your bank (almost every financial institution supports this) so that minimal items are mailed to your residential address.
- Due to the Patriot Act, you cannot use a mail forwarding address for banking or financial purposes. Therefore, in compliance with this policy, we must process each mail item sent to your residential address this way. The benefit of this arrangement is that you have a legal residential address for use with financial institutions, obtaining a driver’s license, and voting.
- Scanning is always free. However, any mail sent to your residential address must first be forwarded to your mailing address before it can be legally opened and scanned.
Notarization fees: If you choose to use the online notary service (proof.com), they will charge a $25 fee per notarization (keep in mind, proof.com is not related to SavvyNomad outside of the fact that we have integrated it for your convenience).
Declaration of Domicile filing fee: If you choose to file a declaration of domicile form, you will see a $25 fee from Savvy Nomad (separate from any notarization fees). This is to cover fees charged by the state and postage when filing your form.
Vehicle registration fee: We can help you with vehicle registration. Many people end up driving their vehicle to Florida without knowing that it’s possible to register it without bringing the vehicle along. We provide guidance through this process, assist in completing the necessary forms, and clarify which forms are required and which are not. We prepare our users so that when they obtain their driver’s license, they can complete the final step in person.
If you follow our instructions, the process is quite straightforward. However, it’s important to remember that the last step must be completed in person at the tax collector’s office. You can complete this step on the same day as getting your new driver’s license.
Vehicle registration costs $197, but you can do it yourself.
State-specific Fees: When changing your domicile and applying for a new driver's license or vehicle registration, the state itself will have its own set of fees independent of the service you're using. These fees are payable to the state during the application process and are not part of the service provider's charges.
